Hello, I’m Brian Pfeil. I’ve spent 30 years building things with technology, and I write about what I learn so others can learn from that experience.

I currently work at Merck as a Principal Cloud Architect.

I’m an AWS Community Builder (Serverless)

Most of the writing started as a playground repo — a small, self-contained project for learning something by building with it, from AWS services and infrastructure tooling to language runtimes, machine learning and AI. Lately I’ve also been shipping small browser apps: a chess game with monster pieces, an FPS aim trainer, a Mandarin phrase prompter, a maths-powered creature battler. All client-side, all open source.

The site has grown beyond the blog. Learn gathers free courses and docs for code, cloud and AI, sorted by goal, and GitHub lists every public repo with learning paths through the playgrounds. There are also my photos and video, music playlists, the YouTube and Twitch channels I follow, favorite movies and my résumé.
